“Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in a truck stop populated by vampires” is the description that would have ruined one of my most seminal movie memories. When Netflix first started their streaming services I saw George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, and Harvey Keitel on a movie poster and just said yes. I got to see “From Dusk Till Dawn” going in totally blind, and it was perfect. It was the perfect movie with the perfect sensibilities at the perfect time for a 14 year old me to get the feeling that I want to give to people.

This innocence is required for this special connection to happen. I still remember walking out the door in a rush to see “Baby Driver.” My grandmother asked me what it was about, and I said “I don’t know, I haven’t seen it yet.” It’s this state of not knowing that allows that beautiful surprise when you go “oh my god, it’s like this was made just for me.”

From Dusk Till Dawn, Baby Driver, Rocketman, Cry-Baby, Almost Famous. There are others that surprised me like Fury Road or Kingsman, but they all share that same comforting quality that lulls me into the world and disarms my consciousness in favor of turning over my nervous system to these artists and their work for the time that it is in front of me. This is the opportunity I want to give people, the chance to share and rejoice in this feeling of synchronized spirit and taste.

Over the past few years I’ve spent my life dedicated to the idea of fulfillment. Living a fulfilling life. For a long time I worked on on particular project as a vehicle for development. I poured everything into it, because it serves as the foundation for everything else I’m doing. It is project 7 of 10 in something akin to a decade long research study. If there’s one thing that I think sets me apart from other people it is that the process is my point and the execution is the byproduct - I focus on living the life of making the show, trusting that the next move is always the right move because it’s going to get me where I’m going, and giving myself the grace to get there.

The thing I set out to find with this project was myself, and that’s what I want to give to other people, because that is what makes a fulfilling life. The first 6 projects are the training guide for engaging in the common ground laid out in the series plan for project 7, which you are about to read. My want for mastery, understanding and stability have served me well these past several years, the fruits of which you are about to see, but now it’s time for me to release my managerial mindset and be the person in the process.
